Changeless Star
Something about this letting go
Is different than the one I know
Wise and powerful, silent Voice
Asks me now to make a choice
It offers passage on its train
“Come aboard and lose your way”
It says, as if an easy thing
I agree, and climb right in
I nestle up against the glass
And watch the dazzling view move past
Knowing this would start a fire
Burning more than my desire
Everything I think I see
Will change, transform, reveal to me
Light, inside these fleshy forms
Offering Truth without the thorns
I’d come to know inside myself
The years and lives, dusty shells
Bodies traveling down the line
Always hanging on to time
It pains the mind to let them go
People, places, memories sown
Traps and tricks designed to fool
The thinking mind, the useless tool
You know the one who whispers well
Stories you love to tell and retell
Over and over, here and there
Until it finds some other fare
To dine upon, and set your sights
On this one now, another fight
To feed, though satisfy it not
A new and dazzling, evil thought
Remember now, you’re on the train
No room for blindness, nor for blame
Shiny, inverted disco ball
Projected onto every wall
The faces of the ones you know
Acting in your private show
They take direction on your stage
Illusions locked inside their cage
Until you set them free, forgive
Discover where you really live
Traveling tracks through ancient caves
Shattering all the sets you made
Blank and empty canvas, white
You stand beyond the realms of Light
Ever as you truly are
One thought, one mind, a changeless star
